Apple today announced that all users in the United States can now experience redesigned Maps with faster and more accurate navigation and a comprehensive overview of roads, buildings, parks, airports, shopping centers, and more, making it easier and more enjoyable to plan any trip. Apple has completed the rollout of this new Maps app in the United States and will begin rolling it out across Europe in the coming months.
"We intend to create the best and most private map app on the planet that reflects how people are exploring the world today," said Eddie cue, Apple's senior Vice President of Internet software and services. "This is an effort that we've invested a lot of money in, and we needed to re-create the map from scratch to rethink how Maps improve people's lives - from navigation to work or school or planning an important vacation-and it's all at the heart of privacy. Completing the creation of a new map in the United States and providing new features such as Look Around and Collections are important steps in realizing this vision. We look forward to bringing this new map to the rest of the world, starting in Europe later this year."

Maps and privacy
Apple is committed to ensuring the security of personal information and has built privacy into the core of Maps. With Maps, you don't need to log in, and it's not associated with your Apple ID in any way. Personalized features, such as offering departure times for the next meeting, are created using the device's smart features. Any data collected by Maps when using the app, such as search terms, navigation routing, and traffic information, is associated with random identifiers that are constantly reset to ensure the best experience and improve Maps. Maps go even further to hide a user's location on Apple servers when searching for a location using a process called "fuzzing". Maps convert the exact location where the search occurred to less accurate after 24 hours and do not save the history of what the user was looking for or where they were.
